Accountant & Bookkeeper Invoices
Hourly work, retainers, and tax-prep fees on one invoice
CPAs, EAs, bookkeepers, and tax preparers often have three billing patterns in play at the same time: hours, monthly retainers, and flat-fee deliverables. Issueable gives each one a place, including pass-through expenses, engagement-letter references, and per-form tax-prep pricing.

Three Billing Models
Hourly with itemized time entries, monthly retainers as a single line, or flat-fee per deliverable. Pick the right one per client.
Tax Prep Itemization
List each form (1040, Schedule C, state returns, K-1s) as its own line. Clients see what they're paying for.
Pass-Through Expenses
E-filing fees, software charges, document storage, at-cost line items separate from your service fees.
Engagement Letter Reference
Notes section for citing the engagement letter date and scope, so every invoice is anchored to a signed agreement and disputes have a paper trail.
Accountant Invoice FAQ
Why Accounting Invoices Need Three Patterns
Accounting invoices get messy because the billing model changes with the engagement. Tax prep is often flat-fee per form. Bookkeeping is usually a monthly retainer. IRS notice response and advisory work may be hourly. A solo CPA can have all three patterns running at once, so the invoice needs to follow the engagement instead of forcing everything into the same shape.
Accountants and attorneys often serve the same client at the same time. The attorney invoice page handles legal billing conventions (UTBMS codes, trust accounting notes) that differ from accounting billing. For solo accountants who also do general client work, freelancer invoices cover simpler project-based billing.
