What Michigan requires

Requirement
The landlord uses inventory checklists at both ends of the tenancy. At move-in the tenant gets two blank copies (identical to the move-out form) with the notice below at the top, notes the condition and returns one within seven days. At move-out the landlord completes the same checklist listing the damage claimed.
